Robert McLay represents clients in a variety of areas.  The scope of his practice encompasses commercial contract disputes, financial transactions, various types of insurance claims, and consumer protection act violations.

He is an experienced trial lawyer.  He has tried cases in the counties of Alameda, Calaveras, King, Los Angeles, Madera, Marin, Multnomah, Orange, Placer, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, and Pierce. He also has extensive experience in a variety of arbitration formats.

In addition to his federal and state trial practice, he has also successfully argued appeals before the First and Third District Courts of Appeal and the Nevada Supreme Court.

As part of his financial transaction practice, he handles mortgage issues and interpleader actions on behalf of stakeholders.  He also offers advice to financial institutions concerning beneficiary designations on IRA accounts, small estate administration, and contested estates. 

He has litigated real estate disclosure issues, boundary disputes, easements, and title disagreements.  He has passed the California Department of Real Estate Broker's license and provided legal advice to real estate brokers and real estate agents in disclosure and standard of care issues.

Robert McLay is licensed to practice as an attorney not only in California, but also in the State of Washington and the District of Columbia. He has also been admitted and handled cases pro hac vice.

He is licensed in all of the federal courts of California, the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington, and is licensed to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, as well as the United States Supreme Court.
