Melanie Rose’s practice focuses primarily on insurance coverage and bad faith litigation. Prior to joining DKM Law Group, Melanie had diverse civil litigation practice defending insured’s in third-party claims focusing on catastrophic injury, premises liability, automobile liability, liquor liability, and commercial litigation. Melanie also has significant experience with insurance subrogation claims. Melanie has appeared in various state and federal courts throughout the Pacific Northwest, at all phases of litigation. Melanie’s practice takes her all over the states of Oregon and Washington regularly, as well as into Idaho. She has given a number of presentations on changes in Oregon and Washington law highlighting the Pacific Northwest’s unique legal landscape.
Melanie is a member of the Oregon State Bar, Washington State Bar, and Idaho State Bar and is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court of Oregon and Washington (Idaho pending). Melanie graduated cum laude from Lewis & Clark Law School (Portland, 2012) and earned a B.A. in English, History, and Government from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI (summa cum laude, 2009). In law school, Melanie won awards for both client advocacy and legal writing. Some of Melanie’s first experiences in the legal community were volunteering for the Washington County Family Law Assistance Program and working at the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic.
Melanie was born in Oregon and grew up in a handful of smaller Southern Oregon towns. She still thinks of Portland as a “big city.” After relocating to Portland, she fell in love with the city and cannot imagine living or practicing anywhere else. Away from work, Melanie can usually be found teaching knitting lessons at a local yarn shop, exploring the local food scene, or getting her yearly supply of Vitamin D during the four months it is dry enough to be outside.
