As a trial lawyer, Marissa Korbel loves to tell a compelling story, whether writing briefs for her clients or for major news outlets like the Washington Post. Marissa brings directness and narrative grace to her work. She knows that the most persuasive writing balances clarity, thoroughness, and brevity. She received her J.D. from Lewis and Clark Law School and her B.A. in Poetry from Mills College.

Before joining DKM Law Group, Marissa worked for several years as a civil rights litigator at Allegiant Law, and at the Victim Rights Law Center, a federally-funded nonprofit for sexual assault survivors. She was a law clerk to the Hon. Patricia L. McGuire (Multnomah County Circuit Court), the Hon. Howard R. Lloyd (Northern District of California), and a legal extern to the Hon. Robert E. Jones (District of Oregon).

In her off hours, Marissa is an essayist whose work appears in Guernica, Harper’s Bazaar, The Rumpus, and in the critically-acclaimed anthology Burn it Down: Women Writing about Anger (2019).
