Maia Bernick’s experience as a litigator encompasses a wide range of civil law, including boundary line disputes, contract and business disputes, and construct defects. Prior to transitioning into private practice in 2021, Maia served as a staff attorney at the Washington State Department of Health, where she assisted the various boards and commissions that regulate Washington’s healthcare professionals. Since joining DKM, Maia has applied her unique combination of regulatory and civil litigation experience to complex insurance coverage issues in both state and federal court.

Maia received her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in 2018 after graduating from University of Puget Sound with a B.A. in Philosophy in 2015. During law school, Maia was engaged with several volunteer legal organizations including the Thurston County Volunteer Legal Clinic and Solid Ground.

Outside of the office, Maia enjoys playing the New York Times word games (specifically Strands and Spelling Bee), urban hiking, discovering new coffee shops, and spending time with her pets, Eureka and Monroe.
